Module 7: Personal Evangelism (3)
The Lord Jesus declared to His disciples that only those who do the will of the Father can enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:21). Paul clearly indicated God’s will: He wants all people to be saved and to understand the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Therefore, as true believers, it is reasonable to follow the will of the heavenly Father to "save all people", spread the gospel widely, guide all people to understand the truth, abandon falsehood and return to the truth, and run together on the road to salvation.
The mission of preaching and saving people
Paul is finally entrusted by the Lord, with the determination of "I might by all means save some". He did his best for the gospel, so as to share the benefits of the gospel with others (1 Corinthians 9:16-23). To Timothy, Paul writes, “Preach the word, in season and out of season, with all your heart, with all patience...., be careful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of a preacher, and fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:1- 5). From this we can see the importance of preaching and saving people.
Regarding the final judgement of God in the future, and to receive the reward of entering the kingdom of heaven, Paul solemnly charged before his death (4:1; Mark 16:15)
Seize every opportunity and time to preach (4:2; Ecclesiastes 9:10-11; Acts 16:25)
Be single-minded and focus on preaching and saving people (4:2; John 5:34; Acts 19:8-10)
In order to accomplish the great work of saving people, one must be patient (4:2; 2 Corinthians 11:23-30)
The target of the battle is the devil, and the target of the conversation is the unbelievers, so be cautious in your words and deeds (4:5; Ephesians 6:12; 1 Peter 5:8; Col 4:4-6)
The work of saving souls may be hindered by the devil in many ways, so it is necessary to endure suffering (1 Peter 5:9-10; 2 Timothy 4:17-18).
The content of personal evangelism
See through life and think about the ending
Recognize that the world is not an eternal destination. Think about the coming and going of life, the meaning of life, and the future destination. (Psalm 90:10; Ecclesiastes 1:13)
Explain the origin of life, the result of the sin of Adam and Eve, the source of life, and the way to eternal life (Genesis 2:7, 3:16-19; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 21:8; Matthew 7:13-14)
To know God, the Creator
Man-made idols are not the true God. The Creator who created all things and human beings is the only true God. He is the true God to be worshipped. Knowing God brings peace and blessings (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 115:3-8, 135:15 -18; Romans 1:23-25; Job 22:21)
The true God who created all things does not require people to prepare sacrifices for worship, but requires people to worship in spirit and truth, and He also listens to people's prayers (John 4:21-24, 17:3; Psalm 65:2)
Understand one's own sin, original sin and actual sin
There is no perfect person in the world who does not sin, and the Bible condemns everyone’s sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Galatians 3:22; Psalm 51:5)
Since Adam sinned, all human beings have been born in sin and will experience death, because the wages of sin is death, therefore, everyone needs Jesus as Savior (Romans 1:28-32, 5:12, 6 :23).
Believe and be baptized, The forgiveness of sins through the shedding of blood.
The kingdom of heaven is holy and perfect, without sin, but human beings have sins and transgressions. Unless our sins are dealt with, we are not eligible to enter the kingdom of heaven and enjoy eternal life. God asked the sinless Christ Jesus to die for us who are sinful, so that we can live in Him inwardly to become the righteousness of God. (Mark 16:15-16; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
Everyone in the world has sinned. There is no savior in the world, except only to believe in Jesus, look to the cross for salvation, believe and be baptized, rely on the blood of Jesus, wash away sin, become the Son of God, belong to Christ, and receive the inheritance. (Ephesians 2:13; Acts 22:16; Gal 3:26-29)
Baptism experience, sanctification and salvation
Faith with experience can strengthen faith, believe in Jesus, pray and ask, receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and have evidence of the inheritance of the kingdom of heaven. Receiving the Holy Spirit can be seen and heard. (John 14:16-17; Acts 2:1-4; Ephesians 1:13-14)
The Holy Spirit empowers people, prays for the saints, and helps believers to sanctified in order to receive salvation. When you know the Holy Spirit recorded in the Bible, go to the true church established by the Holy Spirit, pray to experience the Holy Spirit, and understand the true way (Romans 8:26, 2 Thes 2:13; Titus 3:5)
Choose the church that belongs to Christ
Jesus Christ is the Savior of all believers, and the church is the body of Christ. Therefore, to be saved and enter the kingdom of heaven, you must belong to the true church of the body of Christ. From the Bible, the true church that will be saved must be unique, because there is one Lord and one body. (Ephesians 5:23; Isaiah 2:1-4; Amos 9:11)
A church established by the Holy Spirit is the promised true church with the Holy Spirit dwelling in it, spreads the truth of salvation, and manifests the power of God. The body of Christ has the Holy Spirit, truth, and miracles. In the true church, to be saved, we must believe, be baptized for the forgiveness of sins, to became a child of God, a member of God's family, and received the inheritance of the kingdom of heaven. (Romans 8:9; Ephesians 2:12-13, 19)
Follow the Savior and endure to the end
After believing and being baptized, one begins to follow the Savior Jesus Christ to walk on the journey to heaven. One must deny oneself, take up one’s cross and follow the Lord. (Matthew 10:37-39, 16:24-26)
There is only one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, because Jesus died for our sins only once. Therefore, after being baptized, one must rely on the Holy Spirit to pursue sanctification, put to death lust, keep in the Lord, overcome all sins, and enter the kingdom of God We have experienced many hardships, and only those who persevere to the end can be saved. (Hebrews 3:14, 6:4-6; 1 John 5:4; Philippians 4:13; Matt 24:13).
